Anthrax has been in Texas since the beginning of time. Sporadic, localized outbreaks
in livestock and wildlife occur during warmer weather in Southwest Texas. It
is not pleasant, however, ranchers there have learned to vaccinate their livestock
and live with the bacterial disease.
