Identifying Africanized Honey Bees

You've discovered some kind of bee-like insect around your house, where people or pets frequent. Now what?

There are some drawings on our site that might help you figure it out. But if you need more information than what is there, you probably need to talk to someone who knows insects.

Here are some suggestions:

If you are in Texas, contact your local county Extension agent. These people do NOT remove bees or other insects, but they can tell you how to get them identified, especially if you think they are Africanized honey bees. Don't know your agent? Go to our Ag Directory ,scroll down to County Programs and enter the name of your county.

If you are NOT in Texas, look for your county Extension agent in the phone book either under the county listings or perhaps the state listings. In California, the Extension agent or perhaps the local department of agriculture may be able to help you with identification and control methods information.
