VEGA – Amy Caballero is crossing the state line to take the position of family and consumer science agent at the Texas Cooperative Extension office in Oldham County.

Caballero will begin March 1, moving from her position in Portales, N.M. as a nutrition educator for the New Mexico State University Cooperative Extension.

"I know I have some big shoes to fill, because Sherry Harder had a good program going," she said. "I just want to build on that strength."

Getting more people involved and adding to the adult clubs will be one of her goals, Caballero said. Another will be to get the numbers up in the 4-H program.

"Amy's internship experience and work as a nutrition educator with Cooperative Extension in New Mexico will be valuable in helping her get off to a quick start in providing quality Extension education for Oldham County citizens," said Donna Brauchi, district Extension administrator.

Caballero graduated in December from Eastern New Mexico University with a bachelor degree in family and consumer sciences.
