Texas A&M System Awarded $5 Million for Bioenergy Research
COLLEGE STATION -- Gov. Rick Perry announced today that The Texas A&M
University System has received a $5 million grant from the state's
Emerging Technology Fund for the Texas A&M Agriculture and Engineering
Bioenergy Alliance. "The Texas A&M System has a reputation for excellence
in research. We strive to maintain and improve upon that reputation by
hiring outstanding faculty and providing them with the tools they need to
rise to the top of their field," said Michael D. McKinney, chancellor of
the Texas A&M System. "This funding from our state's leadership will be
used for groundbreaking research to create alternative fuels to solve our

WESLACO – Longtime cotton farmer Donnie Valdez envisions three large
factories in the Rio Grande Valley turning crops into bio-fuels and fuel
additives. One factory would use vast quantities of sugarcane to produce
