It’s Cotton Tour Time

BALLINGER – It's cotton tour time, and Texas Cooperative Extension has
tours set for Oct. 10 in Runnels County and Oct. 11 in Tom Green County.
Each tour will offer 2.5 Texas Department of Agriculture continuing
education units. There will be 1.5 general units offered, along with one
unit in laws and regulations.
The Runnels County tour starts at 9 a.m. from the Runnels County
Courthouse in Ballinger. Then participants travel to the Paul Minzenmayer
Farm on U.S. Highway 67 and County Road 240 for a look at dryland cotton
varieties and a harvest-aid trial.
The tour will conclude with updates on the boll weevil eradication
program and small grain integrated pest management. There will be a
complementary meal at Old St. Mary's Hall in Ballinger.
The Tom Green County tour begins at 9 a.m. at the John and Doug Wilde
farm just north of the intersection of Loop 306 and Farm-to-Market Road
765, east of San Angelo. The tour will include an irrigated cotton variety
test overview and harvest-aid trial. It will conclude with a boll weevil
eradication update and complimentary meal at Saint Ambrose Parish Hall in
Wall.
