NACOGDOCHES – The "Fall CEU Program" is designed for private pesticide
applicators who need continuing education units but don't want to be bored
getting them, said a Prairie View A&M University Cooperative Extension
agent .
The program will begin with registration at 2:30 p.m. Oct. 25 at the
Nacogdoches County Exposition Center, said Crispin Skinner, Extension
agent for agriculture in Nacogdoches County.
"We'll offer five CEU hours, one in laws and regulations, one in
integrated pest management, two in general and one in drift management,"
Skinner said. "It's set in Nacogdoches, but any private pesticide
applicator needing CEUs to renew their TDA (Texas Department of
Agriculture) licenses can attend."
Included in the program will be presentations on feral hogs,
identifying common and aquatic weeds, limiting pesticide drift and an
update on laws and regulations.
The registration fee for those needing continuing education units will
be $25, which will cover the costs of the training and the testing
materials. For another $10, participants may purchase a barbecue dinner.
"Those not needing license renewal will only have to pay the $10 to
cover the dinner expenses," Skinner said. "This program is designed for
people with a private applicator license, but it has beneficial and
educational information for all who attend."
The program will conclude by 8:30 p.m.
Skinner asked that participants preregister by Oct. 19 so he can
arrange for enough training materials and meals. For more information or
to register, call the Extension office in Nacogdoches at 936-560-7711.
The exposition center is located at 3805 N.W. Stallings Drive. For an
